Our History

DeeAnn Groves

Senior Resource Services (SRS) was founded by DeeAnn Groves.  Caring for her mother with Alzheimer’s kindled her passion for helping the elderly and led her to pursue becoming a Gerontologist.  Knowing some of the challenges caregivers encounter through her experience caring for her mother – such as adult children not knowing where to turn for help and seniors living alone needing assistance for a better quality of life – was the reason DeeAnn established SRS.

DeeAnn applied for and received 501c(3) non-profit status in 2006, and opened SRS’s doors with Transportation and Caregiver Respite programs in 2007. SRS began with one client and one volunteer caregiver, and now have over 880 clients and 159 volunteers.  Our client numbers currently grow by an average of one client per business day and rides given will exceed 10,000 in 2016, jumping by over 26% from July to September of 2016. Volunteers are the backbone of our agency, allowing us to provide direct services free of charge, regardless of income.  Without them the cost of offering our program services would be prohibitive.

We are grateful for funding from the Area Agency on Aging, grants, and Weld County businesses and individuals, which allows us to fund a full-time Executive Director and maintain part-time office positions including a Volunteer Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Office Assistant, Client In-take Coordinator, and Greeley-Evans area minivan drivers. We will also have full-time VISTA volunteers from March of 2017 through February of 2019. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
